Treat Yourself, Help the Less Fortunate!
This weekend, I’ve found a couple cool opportunities to make a difference in the life of someone who really needs a helping hand right now… and to make it even better, you’ll get a special treat in return!
1. On Friday, February 10th, the Connecticut Oral Health Initiative is holding a Wine Tasting to support their fundraising efforts. This is their very first Wine Tasting and Silent Auction event! And by the way, if you haven’t gotten a Valentine’s Day gift for that special someone yet, you might be able to find the perfect item at the Silent Auction, like beautiful artwork, vacation packages, restaurant gift certificates, and other great gifts! A local jazz ensemble will provide the musical backdrop as you sample fine wines, hot hors d’oeurves, and chocolates.
The Wine Tasting event will take place this Friday, from 6pm until 10pm, at the Pond House at Elizabeth Park (directions here). Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. You can register for the Wine Tasting and get your tickets ahead of time at this website.
2. Get pampered for a few hours on Sunday, February 12th, at Rimage Salon and Spa in New Haven! You can get a fantastic haircut and style for only $25, which is an amazing deal! Other services, such as chair massages and manicures, will also be available. All the proceeds will benefit Liberty Community Services, an organization assisting our local homeless population.
Rimage will also feature food and music during this brunch-time event, from 11am until 3pm. And speaking of brunch… the proceeds benefit Liberty Community Services’ Sunday Brunch program, which gets people off the streets for a couple hours for a delicious meal every Sunday. This event promises to be a relaxing mini-retreat, for a great cause!
